Our hair becomes soft and manageable when it has the right amount of moisture to it. It also indicates that our hair is in a healthy state. If hair gets enough nutritions, it looks soft and doesn't get tangled much. When the hair looks dull, dry and rough, it is a sign that our hair is needed some extra attention and care.
Firstly, we should look at our diet as poor food selection always shows their result on our health including skin and hair. Other reasons like using heating tools, harsh chemicals and harsh weather conditions are the external causes that can make our hair loses its softness and silkiness.
Now that we know about the reasons that make our hair dry and rough, let us look at the ways to make our hair soft and smooth.
Firstly, I will be sharing a diy hair mask that will bring back softness and moisture to the hair cuticles. All the ingredients are known for their moisturising properties and highly useful in adding moisture to the hair shafts.
Lastly, we'll see a list of food items that can help us with the internal nutritions.

♡ INGREDIENTS:-
- Olive oil
- Aloe vera gel
- Fresh amla juice
- Homemade curd
- In a clean glass bowl, take 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel, 1 tablespoon of amla juice and around 1 tablespoon of homemade curd.
- Mix all the ingredients properly, so that we can get a lump free smooth mixture.
- This particular mixture is a little bit runny, so I would suggest you apply it in the bathroom as it could be a little bit messy.
- Comb the hair properly to remove all the knots and tangles from the hair.
- Now, start coating the hair shafts with it generously. Since this particular mask is to soften our hair shafts, our main focus should be the length of the hair.
- Keep it on for 40-45 minutes.
- Use mild shampoo to wash it off, followed by a conditioner.
- It can be done once or twice a week, depending on your hair condition.
- Extra virgin olive oil works beautifully for softening the hair shafts.
- It has high emollient properties that support making the hair soft and smooth.
- It moistures the hair and retains the moisture by locking it into the hair cuticles.
- It might help in avoiding split ends, keeping the hair healthy, soft and silky.
- Aloe vera is a decent source of vitamin E that is extremely nutritive for our scalp and hair.
- It also has certain nutrients and enzymes that are beneficial in making the hair softer and smoother.
- It decreases hair frizz, which also helps in giving the hair softness.
- Amla contains amino acids that nourish hair follicles.
- As a natural moisturizer, amla has been widely used in the haircare regimen.
- It helps in balancing the pH levels of our scalp.
- It prevents premature hair-greying.
- It encourages blood circulation on the scalp that boosts oxygen flow to the hair roots.
- It increases hair elasticity that makes the hair shine, soft and silky
- Amla juice works as a natural hair tonic for dry scalp and hair.
- Homemade curd moisturises our hair and adds shine and softness to it.
- Curd can minimise the appearance of frizziness and it manages to make look smoother.
