THE SECRET BEHIND RICE WATER AND ITS POPULARITY : BENEFTS FOR SKIN AND HAIR

Using rice water for our skin and hair is an easy but effective way to improve their quality. Rice has certain vitamins and minerals that benefit our skin and hair.
Rice water is not a new thing in beauty rituals. Centuries ago Japanese women in the Heian period started using rice water for their hair. Even now Red Yao women of Huangluo village in China swear by rice water. Yao women are known for their thick, black and long hair. The main reason for their beautiful hair is rice water. 

I don't need to say much about Korean skincare as their skincare products are extremely popular. And a wide range of their products has rice as their main ingredient. So, rice is really good for our skin and hair.

♡ BENEFITS OF RICE WATER ♡

Now that we know about the amazing qualities of rice and how it can be an inexpensive addition to our beauty regimen, let's see how we can prepare and use rice water. Rice water can be prepared in 3 different ways.

■ TIPS :
  1. Use white rice as other types of rice has a high amount of protein and too much of using it might harm your hair.
  2. Boiled and fermented rice water is very strong. Please dilute it with some water before applying it to your face.
  3. Avoid the eye area while using it for your face as it might irritate you in the long run.
  4. Once or twice a month is ideal to use rice water but everyone's hair is different. See what works for you and stick to that.
  5. It is best to use an airtight glass container to store the rice water.
  6. Rice water can be stored for up to a week in the fridge, after that please prepare a new batch.
☆ DIFFERENT WAYS TO PREPARE RICE WATER 

■ FIRST METHOD
  • For the first method, we will be needing half a cup of raw rice.
  • Wash the rice at least 2-3 times to remove all the dirt and pesticides from it.
  • Now in a clean bowl add in the rice and 2-3 cups of filtered water.
  • Leave it for 30 minutes and stir it with a spoon or your hands from time to time.
  • After 30 minutes, the water will turn milky white shirt the rice will release its goodness into the water.
  • Strain water in a glass container and immediately Store it in the fridge.
  • It will last for up to a week. After one week, discard the rest and make a new batch.
  • It's the easiest way to make rice water.
■ SECOND METHOD 
  • The second method involves fermentation.
  • Take 1/2 cup of raw rice and wash it properly 2-3 times.
  • Now place the washed rice into a glass container and fill it up with filtered water. Close the lid of it.
  • Keep it at room temperature for at least a whole day. 48 hours is the maximum time that we can keep it at room temperature.
  • After that, strain the water and place it in the fridge.
■ THIRD METHOD
  • The third method is by boiling rice.
  • Just like the other two methods, we need uncooked rice.
  • Take 1 cup of uncooked rice and rinse it well.
  • Now take the washed rice in a pot and add 2 cups of water. Once the rice is cooked, separate the rice and water.
  • Now, our boiled rice water is ready.
  • Let it cool down completely and shift it to an airtight glass container and keep it in the fridge.
♡ HOW TO USE RICE WATER FOR FACE :
  • Plain rice water and boiled rice both are ideal for the face.
  • You can use fermented rice water too but I would suggest not to do it. As fermented rice water has a strong smell and is extremely potent. If you are planning to use it on your face, please dilute it with some water before using it on the face.
  • You can take some plain rice water on a cotton round and clean your face with it. Let it dry for 20-30 minutes, then rinse it off with water.
  • Boiled rice water can be used in a DIY face mask easily to add a healthy glow to the skin.

♡ HOW TO USE RICE WATER FOR HAIR
  • Plain rice water and fermented rice water both can be used as a hair rinse. Some people even prefer boiled rice water as their hair rinse.
  • For your hair, you might use it as it is or dilute the boiled rice water and fermented rice water with some normal water. It depends on your preference.
  • After shampooing and conditioning your hair, use the rice water as a hair rinse. Massage your scalp for a minute. You can wait for anywhere between  5 minutes - 15 minutes, before rinsing it off with normal water.
  • You can use boiled rice water in your hair mask as it will make your hair silky and soft.
