Toning is a basic but integral step in our CTM routine. During summertime, it becomes an essential step to quickly energises our skin. Hot weather during the summer months takes a toll on our skin especially if we tend to spend a long time outside. Like our body, our skin also starts looking exhausted and lifeless. After using a toner, our skin looks refreshed instantly.
In today's post, I will be sharing diy green tea and mint toner that will help our skin beautifully. Both green tea and mint are great to use during summertime due to their cooling and refreshing effect. And this toner does the same with our skin. It can immediately provide a cooling effect to the skin.
NOTE:- PLEASE DO A PATCH TEST BEFORE APPLYING ANYTHING ON THE SKIN TO SEE IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO ANY OF THE INGREDIENTS.
BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA AND MINT TONER
♡ INGREDIENTS:-
- Green tea leaves (1-2 TBSP)
- Mint leaves (12-14 leaves)
- Rosewater (1 TBSP)
- Glycerin (1TSP)
- Water (2 glasses)
♡ PREPARATION:-
- Wash the mint leaves properly to remove dirt from them.
- Switch on the gas.
- In a pan add 2 glasses and water and once the water starts boiling, add the previously washed mint leaves and wait for 4-5 minutes.
- After that, switch off the gas and add the green tea leaves to it. Cover the pan and let it sit for 45 minutes - 1 hour.
- After 1 hour the mixture will come to room temperature, strain it and our diy green tea and mint toner is ready to be used.
- Once it comes to room temperature, transfer the toner to a spray bottle.
- Now add 1 tablespoon of rose water and 1 teaspoon of glycerin to it and immediately keep it in the fridge.
- It will last 12-15 days in the fridge, after that discard it and make a new batch.
- This toner can be used multiple times in a day. Shake the bottle every time before using it.
- Polyphenols present in green tea fights acne and pimple-causing bacterias. So it is very effective in controlling acne breakouts.
- EGCG and ECG are two powerful antioxidants found in green tea that boosts our skin against the damage caused by free radicals.
- The anti-inflammatory effect of green tea lessens skin redness and skin irritation.
- Salicylic acid in mint leaves decreases the appearance of acne and pimples.
- It cleanses our skin pores and the astringent effect of it tones the skin.
- It boosts the skin complexion and maintains healthy and glowing skin.
- Rosewater acts as a mild cleanser and attracts dirt and impurities from the pores.
- Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is great for irritated skin.
- Rosewater helps in controlling excess oil production and helps to maintain the pH balance of our skin.
- The emollient properties of glycerin make our skin soft, supple and youthful.
- It is a natural humectant that locks moisture into the skin and keeps it nourished for a long time.
- It is very gentle on the skin and helps in skin healing.
