Harsh winter months can take a toll on our skin. During winters our skin becomes very dry and flaky. It looks very dull, unhealthy and lifeless. Moisturing our skin is essential throughout the year but during colder months we understand the need for moisturization more.
Hydrating our body is also equally necessary. Our skin becomes dehydrated when it lacks water. Drinking plenty of water keeps our body and skin hydrated.
Apart from moisturising and hydrating, applying a nourishing face mask during winter can bring back its lost glow. Today I will be sharing 5 DIY face mask to pamper our skin during this winter season. All these DIY face masks will ensure that our skin looks glowing and radiant during these harsh and cold winter months.
NOTE:- PLEASE DO A PATCH TEST BEFORE APPLYING ANYTHING ON THE FACE TO SEE IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC TO ANY OF THE INGREDIENTS.
1. BANANA AND MILK CREAM FACE MASK:-
- Take 1 tablespoon of ripe banana paste and add 1 teaspoon of milk cream or malai to it.
- Mix these two ingredients well.
- Apply this mixture to your clean face for 15 - 20 minutes.
- Wash it off with normal water.
- It can be done 2-3 times a week.
- It is amazing for dry and mature skin people as it will deeply nourish the dry and flaky skin and give an instant glow to the skin.
- Banana is considered a natural botox as it will help in reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also provides enough nourishment to the skin making it soft and plump. Milk cream or malai is a rich source of lactic acid that lightly bleaches our skin. It also moistures our skin.
2. COCOA AND ALOE VERA FACE MASK:-
- Take 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera juice.
- Mix well.
- Apply it to your face and neck.
- Leave it on for 10 - 15 minutes, before washing it off with normal water.
- It can be used twice a week.
- It is perfect for oily to combination skin types.
- Unsweetened cocoa powder is a powerful ingredient that is loaded with antioxidants. These antioxidants act as a shield and protect our skin from harsh UV rays. It also has anti-ageing properties that improve skin elasticity. Aloe vera gel soothes and heals our skin from irritation. It also improves skin quality.
- Take 1 tablespoon of carrot paste and 11/2 teaspoon of raw honey to it.
- Mix well.
- Apply this mixture to the skin.
- Keep it on for 10 -15 minutes.
- Rinse it off with normal water.
- Try doing it once or twice a week.
- This mask is perfect for all skin types.
- Carrot juice combats dryness and provides moisture to the skin. It also protects our skin from sun damage. Carrot juice reduces dark spots and blemishes from the skin. Honey is filled with antibacterial and antifungal properties that slow down the occurrence of pimples and breakouts. It also gives a subtle glow to the skin.
4. OAT AND BEETROOT FACE MASK:-
- Take 1 tablespoon of oats powder and 1 tablespoon of beetroot powder and add enough yoghurt to make a paste.
- Apply this paste on the face and neck.
- Wait for 15 minutes, wash it off with normal water.
- Do this twice a week.
- It is suitable for all skin types.
- Oats are extremely gentle on the skin. If your skin is irritated, dry and itchy, applying oats can help in soothing and repairing the skin. It also takes cares of blackheads and whiteheads to some extent. Oats makes our skin super soft and supple.
- Beetroot powder has anti-ageing properties that boost skin elasticity. It is also rich in antioxidants that help in cell regeneration. It makes our skin bright and radiant.
5. ORANGE AND CURD FACE MASK:-
- Take 1 tablespoon of orange zest and 1 tablespoon of homemade curd.
- Mix well.
- Apply this paste on your face for 10- 15 minutes.
- Rinse it off with normal water.
- It can be done once a week.
- This face mask is perfect for instant glow and brightness.
- Orange zest is packed with vitamin C. Vitamin C brightens our complexion and removes dark patches and uneven skin tones. It also transforms dull and lifeless to healthy and glowing skin. Homemade curd has lactic acid in it. It also deals with premature skin ageing. Regular application of homemade curd can make our skin radiant and glowing.
