THE BENEFITS OF YOGURT FOR OUR HAIR:
- It removes dead skin cells and product built-up from our scalp.
- Yoghurt is rich in vitamins and minerals that encourage healthy scalp and hair.
- The high amount of proteins in yoghurt makes our hair roots stronger that results in less hair breakage.
- It helps in curing dandruff problem and nourishes the scalp.
- It adds shine to the hair and hair looks less freezy.
- If you have an extremely dry and itchy scalp, yoghurt helps in soothing our scalp from itchiness.

Here I am sharing some of my favourite DIY yoghurt hair masks for different hair problems. Please always use unflavoured homemade yoghurt for face mask or hair mask.
1. TO CONTROL HAIR FALL:-
- Take 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and 2-3 tablespoons of yoghurt.
- Mix well.
- Apply it on your scalp and hair for 30-40 minutes.
- Use a mild shampoo to wash it off, followed by a conditioner.
- It can be done twice a week.
2. TO CONTROL DANDRUFF:-
- Take 1-2 tablespoons of neem powder, 2-3 tablespoons of yoghurt and 3-4 drops of tea tree essential oil.
- Mix everything properly.
- Use this mixture on your scalp and hair length.
- Wait for 40-45 minutes, before washing it off with a herbal shampoo.
- Do this once a week.
3. TO DETOXIFY SCALP:-
- Take 1-2 tablespoons of multani mitti or fuller's earth and 1-2 tablespoons of yoghurt. You can also add 1-2 tablespoons of green tea to this hair mask.
- Apply it on the scalp for 15-20 minutes.
- If you have extremely oily hair, you can apply it on your hair length. But if you have dry hair don't apply it on your hair shafts.
- Use a sulphate free gentle shampoo to wash it off, followed by a conditioner.
- You can apply this mask once a month to detoxify your scalp.
4. FOR SHINY HAIR:-
- For this DIY hair mask, take 1 ripe banana, 2 tablespoons of yoghurt and 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
- Put all the ingredients into a blender to make a smooth paste. Make sure that the paste doesn't contain any banana pieces.
- Apply it generously on your hair, from roots to the ends of your hair.
- Keep it on for 45 minutes.
- Rinse it off with a paraben and sulfate-free shampoo. Apply a conditioner at the end to lock in the moisture.
- It can be done once a week.
5. FOR STRONG HAIR:-
- Take 1 tablespoon of amla powder, 1 tablespoon of hibiscus powder and enough yoghurt to make to paste.
- Apply this hair mask on your scalp and hair.
- Leave it on for 30-40 minutes.
- Use a mild shampoo to wash it off and condition your hair at the end.
- Do this once a week.
